Empowering Learners with Open Badges 3.0: Aligning with GDN Principles for Trustworthy Microcredentials
Tuesday, October 8 | 3:00-3:30 PM PT
The Open Badges standard, originally developed by the Mozilla Foundation and granted to 1EdTech in 2016, is the worldwide technical standard for microcredentials. 1EdTech, formerly IMS Global Learning Consortium, is a membership community of education and technology organizations that have worked together to implement the ideals and twelve principles of the Declaration through open technical standards.
Participants will learn how Open Badges 3.0, the latest version of the open standard, implements GDN’s five definitional dimensions of microcredentials: Learner Autonomy, Trust, A Focus on Learning Outcomes, Interoperability and Portability.
Attendees will also learn about the Trusted Microcredentials Coalition and how a group of education providers and employers are working together to improve skill signals in the learn-and-work ecosystem.
