Since 2006, 1EdTech’s Learning Impact Awards have recognized and celebrated the most innovative and influential uses of technology to support learning worldwide. Past award recipients have helped improve IT efficiency while ensuring a better experience for learners and educators.

Eligibility

The Learning Impact Awards recognize both the product/service involved and the implementing institution as they collaborate to effectively leverage technology to create positive "learning impacts" and outcomes.

Therefore, nominations can be made by any product or service provider, or by any end-user educational institution or training provider, as follows:

  • Only one project nomination can be submitted per organization.
  • All applications must be submitted online and in English.
  • Product or service providers submitting nominations are asked to name the product(s) or service (s) involved, as well as a specific implementation (such as at an institution or in a corporate learning setting).
    • Multiple implementation examples may be included in a single nomination, provided that the implementing organizations are named and represented in the project materials.
  • Institutional or other end-user submitters are asked for the same information, including proprietary and not commercially available products or services.
  • Joint projects involving multiple partners are encouraged to submit together, as the potential for learning impact may be greater.
  • Applicants who are prior award winners are eligible to participate, but must nominate a project that is different than the previous one.

Award Application Process

The 2027 Learning Impact Awards nomination period ends on November 23.

Finalists will be informed by November 30 if the project is selected to advance in the competition. 

Finalists must submit their materials (paper/video) by December 23.

Each submission must include:

Product or Service Maturity

  • Research: Products or services that have been prototyped but not deployed operationally. Entries in the research category are evaluated on the potential impact.
  • New: Products or services that have been deployed operationally within the last 12 months and have at least three adopting organizations or multiple users within an organization. Entries in the new category are evaluated based on their initial and potential learning impact.
  • Established: Products or services that have been deployed for at least 12 months and have at least ten (10) adopting organizations or multiple users within an organization. Entries are evaluated on demonstrated operational impact.

Project Category & Trend

Identify the project category from 1EdTech's Learning Impact Trend Framework that best fits your submission. There is an "other" option for new trends to be identified.

Awards will be given in each category.

Evaluation Process

A panel of edtech professionals evaluates the nominations received for the Learning Impact Awards based on the extent to which the implemented product or service addresses the established Learning Impact criteria.

Finalists are selected based on criteria that identify exemplary technology implementations demonstrating the greatest impact—or potential impact—on addressing the challenges facing the global learning segment, and with the greatest potential to generate a positive return on investment.

Finalists are asked to submit and participate in the following as part of the final selection of award recipients:

  • A four-minute (or shorter) video pitch to support the Learning Impact submission
  • A one-page document outlining the challenge, solution, learning impact outcomes, and return on investment
  • A 5-minute virtual presentation/demo followed by a 5-minute discussion/Q&A with the evaluator panel about the presentation and implementation. This session must include participation from representatives of the designated educational institution, school district, or corporate learning department identified in the award nomination.

Failure to submit the requested additional information by the identified deadline or to participate in the live demonstration will result in elimination from consideration.

The education and technology communities at large will vote for the nomination they feel is most deserving of an award during the public voting period from January 11 to January 25. The combined peer votes count as the equivalent of one judge's vote.

Finalists will present their projects virtually the week of January 18.

The 2027 Learning Impact Award recipients will be announced at the in-person Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, February 10, during the Learning Impact Conference.

Award Recipient Recognition

  • Inclusion in a press release by 1EdTech with global distribution
  • Recognition during the annual Learning Impact Conference.
    • Announcement and presentation of awards on Wednesday, February 10. One representative from each finalist project is eligible for a 25% discount on the applicable conference registration fee.
  • Recognition in 1EdTech communications, providing practical advice to institutions/school districts on what they should be considering to improve accountability, access, and affordability.
  • The four-minute video pitch submitted as part of the review process will be included on the 1EdTech website as an example of an exemplary practice that other institutions/school districts should consider implementing.
