1EdTech is evolving a global CASE ecosystem to support key policy objectives such as skills mobility, qualification transparency, and trust.

Digital credentials and badges only work if they’re meaningful and portable. Learners need credentials they can carry across platforms, industries, and borders. Employers need records they can trust and understand instantly. In a seamless learning and employment landscape, clarity isn’t optional.

CASE is the Foundation

1EdTech's Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange® (CASE®) standard has become a foundational solution for publishing machine-readable frameworks of learning outcomes, competencies, and skills—enabling seamless sharing, alignment, and trust across systems.

CASE ensures that when a skill or competency is described, it means the same thing no matter where it appears. When CASE is combined with other standards like Open Badges and Comprehensive Learner Records (CLR), skills become much easier to compare, understand, and reuse across different settings—making credentials more useful and trusted for everyone.

The technical capability of CASE is solid. The scale at which it operates is expanding.

The CASE Global Ecosystem Provides the Infrastructure

To truly scale meaningful credentials worldwide, we need more than a specification. We need a public infrastructure.

That’s why we’re launching the CASE Global Ecosystem.

This infrastructure:

  • Is not owned by any single institution or employer
  • Is governed openly
  • Is stewarded in the public interest
  • Enables global interoperability, trust, and reach

1EdTech is not centralizing the ecosystem; rather, we are convening it to better meet global demand.
