AI Tutoring Support in Digital Content: Experiences from Carnegie Mellon University
Thursday, November 13 | 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM ET
In this session, we'll speak with Norman Bier, Executive Director of CMU’s Simon Initiative and Director of the Open Learning Initiative (OLI), about AI and courseware. OLI has been piloting what it calls “activation points,” which are logical points in the student’s progression through a course where it makes sense to activate an AI assistant and feed it relevant context. We’ll also discuss how OLI is utilizing AI to develop its software, and more broadly, what we do and don’t know about how AI can assist with tutoring.
Presenter:
- Norman Bier, Director of the Open Learning Initiative, Carnegie Mellon University
Moderator:
- Michael Feldstein, Chief Strategy Officer, 1EdTech Consortium
