Making Educational Technology Work Better for Everyone
1EdTech LATAM is a collaborative initiative to reduce costs, increase efficiency,
and improve learner and educator experiences across Latin America.
Launched in partnership with the Ibero-American Association of EdTechs (IAAE) and other founding partners,
1EdTech LATAM aims to raise awareness of and implement 1EdTech’s open interoperability and digital credential standards through events, training and technical support.
1EdTech provides a portfolio of open standards, certification services, and tools to reduce time
and costs of implementations. The current key products in LATAM include:
Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange (CASE) establishes a standard way to exchange information about academic standards, competencies, and learning outcomes across platforms and applications.
The Comprehensive Learner Record Standard (CLR Standard) is a learner-controlled, web-friendly, and interoperable digital record that supports all academic and workplace recognition and achievements, offering a flexible, easy-to-understand format for learners, registrars, and employers.
Edu-API helps you standardized data exchange across diverse administrative and learning systems, unlocking data from sources like CRMs, financial aid, and swipe card systems to provide a comprehensive view of students and institutional operations.
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) Reduces development time and costs while enabling secure, seamless access to learning tools, automating account creation and access, and simplifying grading by syncing assignments and scores directly to the teacher’s gradebook.
Open Badges are verifiable, transferable, and information-rich digital credentials representing individual achievements. They include detailed issuer and criteria data, can showcase supporting evidence, and align with frameworks to provide meaningful context for resumes and transcripts.
OneRoster supports interoperable, inclusive, and learning standards/competency-aligned assessment item banks. Enables adaptive, accessible assessments with comparable results across campuses or programs, and facilitates joint exam design among partner institutions.
Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) supports interoperable, inclusive, and learning standards/competency-aligned assessment item banks. Enables adaptive, accessible assessments with comparable results across campuses or programs, and facilitates joint exam design among partner institutions.
1EdTech’s open standards allow educational institutions to integrate all learning resources and tools,
such as content, simulators, AI services, digital libraries, and virtual labs.
This integration breaks down silos between academic and administrative systems and ensures traceable
learning data with built-in quality, inclusion, and data protection. Eliminating manual tasks, freeing up valuable time
for educators to focus on students and instructional design.
Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange (CASE) enables consistent tracking of academic standards and competencies, allowing educators and institutions to align content, monitor student progress, and exchange data across systems using standardized identifiers.
This supports personalized instruction, resource alignment, and actionable insights into teaching effectiveness and learner outcomes across courses, programs, and institutions.
The Comprehensive Learner Record Standard (CLR Standard) enables educational institutions to securely capture, verify, and share a broad range of learner achievements in a structured, interoperable format. CLR helps institutions support lifelong learning, enhance employability, and streamline credential recognition across academic and workforce contexts.
Edu-API and OneRoster can automate student and program enrollments, profile updates, grade pass-back, and links across academic, administrative, and identity systems. The standards help eliminate manual work and data errors, offer a seamless experience for faculty and students, and reduce IT operational loads.
Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) provides a friction-free connection between the Learning Management System (LMS) and all digital learning resources, based on course registration data.
This allows faculty to add learning resources, tools, or virtual labs to a course without waiting on IT. It also enables pass back of formative grades between each tool or resource and the LMS. This allows for educators to focus more time on teaching and less on technical tasks.
The instructional designer or teacher can easily integrate multiple resources for each topic. Content searches offer a wide variety of learning objects in different formats, reading levels, grade levels, etc., allowing for the accommodation of student diversity in accordance with Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
Open Badges can provide educational institutions with a flexible, standards-based way to recognize and validate individual achievements in a secure, portable format.
By issuing Open Badges, institutions can enhance learner engagement, support personalized learning pathways, and offer verifiable credentials that align with academic goals and workforce expectations.
Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) supports interoperable, inclusive, competency-aligned question banks to enable adaptive, accessible assessments and comparable results across campuses or programs. This also facilitates joint exam design among partner institutions.

The Universidad Abierta Interamericana (UAI), in partnership with Proof of Knowledge (POK)
Launched a microcredentialing program using 1EdTech’s Open Badges 3.0 standard to issue secure, verifiable digital credentials with embedded outcomes and evidence.
Integrated into UAI’s LMS and academic systems, the program allows students to receive real-time recognition of skills, enhancing transparency and employability.
With analytics from POK, UAI is improving program impact and establishing itself as a regional leader in digital credentialing through global standards.
