Enabling the Skills-Based Ecosystem
November 11, 2025 | 10:50 AM-11:20 AM
The shift to a skills-based economy is accelerating—and education is at the center of making it work. In this session, we’ll explore how leading institutions and organizations are enabling a more connected, equitable, and learner-centered skills-based ecosystem. We’ll highlight what’s happening on the ground through real-world examples from K-12 and higher education. Learn how Alamo Colleges District is embedding skills into academic and workforce pathways and how Idaho Division of Career Technical Education is driving statewide alignment around skills and competencies to support high school students in their careers.
We’ll also examine the foundational role of technology standards in making all of this possible. The work of 1EdTech—including standards like Open Badges, Comprehensive Learner Record (CLR Standard®), and CASE® (Competencies & Academic Standards Exchange®)—helps ensure that skills are represented in a consistent, interoperable way. These standards allow credentials to be more portable, transparent, and useful across systems, institutions, and employers.
Whether you’re building digital credentials, aligning curriculum to workforce needs, or just getting started with skills-based learning, this session will offer practical insights and inspiration from pioneers leading the way.

Aligning Competencies Across the Education-to-Employment Ecosystem with CASE
Date November 13, 2025 | 8:30 AM-9:00 AM
As education and career pathways become increasingly interconnected, institutions and employers need a shared format to define, exchange, and leverage competencies. The CASE (Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange) standard provides an open, interoperable format to align learning standards, course catalogs, skills, and job requirements across your systems and tools, such as LMSs, SISs, content repositories, and talent platforms.
In this session, we will explore:
- How CASE reduces integration barriers and creates a reliable system of record across tools.
- Why institutions and providers are adopting it—and what risks you face if you’re not.
- Discover practical steps to get started with CASE today.
