Four open standards are central to this transformation: Open Badges 3.0, CLR 2.0, CASE, and LER-RS. They create a trusted, learner-centered framework for recognizing and sharing achievements.

As educators, we are privileged and responsible for preparing students for lifelong learning. That means we must design systems that reflect the skills and mindsets students will need for success. Digital credentials that follow open technical standards help do just that.

Uniform ID solves fragmentation by connecting otherwise isolated app directories, enabling seamless sharing of app information across platforms without centralizing control. Built on W3C’s Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs), Uniform ID allows institutions to discover and verify edtech tools faster, allowing vendors to update one record that syncs across multiple directories.

Artificial intelligence is changing how we teach, learn, and lead. But for K–12 schools, the real power of AI isn’t in chasing the latest tools. It’s in weaving AI into what already works—intentionally, thoughtfully, and with purpose.

In the coming months, Google for Education will introduce K12 national and state academic learning standards in Google Classroom. Teachers will be able to find, select, and tag relevant standards by grade level, subject area, and even specific keywords in their assignments. By adopting 1EdTech's Competencies and Academic Standards Exchange standard to power key features within our educational products, we're championing our dedication to the open developer ecosystem that benefits everyone in education.
