1EdTech® and a coalition of collaborators across education, workforce, credentialing, and technology have submitted a joint response to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration (ETA) Request for Information on modernizing CareerOneStop.org and the Occupational Information Network (O*NET) Program.
The coalition’s response calls on the Department of Labor to build on the significant investments already made in open standards, registries, frameworks, and tools across the education and workforce ecosystem.
The collaborators built a response around four key recommendations:
- Steward authoritative workforce data rather than build another end-user platform.
- Adopt existing open standards with a practical path to implementation.
- Require both technical and semantic interoperability across systems.
- Build worker data sovereignty and AI transparency into the foundation of future solutions.
