1EdTech and HR Open Improve Learning to Employment with Updated Standard

LAKE MARY, Florida, and AURORA, Colorado, January 23, 2024 — There is now a clear path toward improved skills-based hiring thanks to the latest resume standard created through a partnership between 1EdTech® Consortium and HR Open Standards Consortium.

The new Learning and Employment Resume Standard (LER-RS) combines 1EdTech’s digital credentials standards, Open Badges 3.0, and the Comprehensive Learner Record Standard™ 2.0 (CLR Standard™) with the next-generation HR Open Resume/CV standard. This combination creates a valuable, standards-based resume that incorporates an individual's academic achievements, skills, and workplace milestones in a more illustrative and digitally verifiable way through a digital wallet or platform, helping to make hiring processes more equitable and efficient.

"The Open Badges and CLR standards increase the value of a resume because they include rich, verifiable data that illustrates what the applicant knows and can do, allowing them to showcase their skills," said Mark Leuba, 1EdTech vice president. "Learners and workers are already earning microcredentials, and now there is an easier way for those achievements to flow into recruiting, applicant tracking, and human resource systems."

"This new standard creates a stronger bridge between education and employment," said Jim Ireland, HR Open Standards executive director. "This goes above and beyond the traditional resume, and will allow employers to find people with the skills they need faster, and with more confidence."

Founded in 1999, the HR Open Standards Consortium is the only independent, non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to developing and promoting a standard suite of specifications to enable human-resource-related data exchanges.

This initiative is made possible by the 1EdTech Foundation with generous support from the Walmart Foundation.
